Reading well is vital for success academically. A speech-language pathologist has the specialized education and experience to identify and address underlying weaknesses in children who struggle with reading. A specialized reading program can be tailored to the needs of your child to address any weaknesses in decoding, encoding, fluency and reading comprehensions skills.
The Approach
We are trained in the Orton-Gillingham approach with experience with the Wilson Reading System, Logic of English, and Lindamood Phoneme Sequencing (LiPS program). We incorporate elements from all programs to shape a therapy plan that best pertains to the needs of your child. We prioritize keeping a positive mindset towards reading to promote a child's love for reading and learning. Every child has the capacity to love to read and we aim to address a struggle they may not realize they have to avoid hindering that capacity.
